Thanking Those who Serve and Protect

In appreciation of your devotion to protect and serve others, the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team is pleased to support the law enforcement community through annual retreats. • What can I expect at the retreat?

You are invited to an appreciation retreat hosted in your honor! Come relax in a safe setting and enjoy two nights lodging and five buffet meals. There will be uplifting and challenging messages from other senior officers, encouragement from God’s Word, live music and great fellowship with other law enforcement couples. Please invite other law enforcement officers in your sphere of influence to join you at the retreat.

    • How early can I arrive?

You are welcome to arrive on property any time after 3:00 p.m. You are welcome to visit the Chatlos Memorial Chapel and Visitor’s Center. Maybe browse around in Ruth’s Attic (The Cove Bookstore). You will receive a special coupon at registration to use in the book store.

    • What will I do when I arrive on property?

You will arrive at the security gate, the officer on duty will have a registration list. They will provide you with a parking pass for the property, then direct you to the building you will be lodging in. You will pick up your room keys and registration packet in the lobby of your hotel building. The Cove will be a very safe setting for you and your spouse to just relax and enjoy a worry-free retreat together.

    • What if I am running late?

The last meal seating is at 6:15PM and the buffet lines will remain open until the staff feel that everyone has been through the line. The program will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. If you arrive after 7 p.m., you will most likely not be able to eat before enjoying the first group session.

    • What if I need to cancel?

Please call The Cove front desk 828-771-4800 so the staff can cancel your registration. Even if you have an emergency the day of your arrival and change plans, please call us!

    • Do I have to wear my uniform?

No, we encourage casual dress for the entire retreat! Some people will wear slacks and a polo to dinner, some will wear jeans the entire time. It really depends on what you are comfortable wearing. Come dressed to relax, be comfortable and enjoy the time away with your spouse. You may want to bring a light jacket due to the temperature sometimes turning cool in the evenings.

    • What if I have special dietary needs?

If you or your spouse have serious dietary needs (food allergies, gluten intolerance, etc.), please email our team in our office at lawenforcementministry@bgea.org, so we can pass on your information to the chef. If you share a dietary need with us to pass on to the chef, you must still make our staff aware so they know how to best accommodate you.

    • Can I bring my children/pet?

The Cove is an adult only property and not able to accommodate infants, children or pets. It is a specially designed retreat just for you! Please make arrangements for childcare, and come enjoy your time together.

    • Is there still a COVID-19 protocol?

Yes, anyone with symptoms consistent with the COVID-19 virus should stay home and not participate in the retreat. We will look forward to hosting you and your spouse at another retreat opportunity real soon.
