2024 Military Chaplain Retreat Canceled
Hurricane Helene caused catastrophic damage to Western North Carolina. While the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove took minimal damage, the Asheville infrastructure has been devastated.
The Lord protected The Cove from damage and our facility is currently being used to house highway patrol officers, Samaritan’s Purse staff, and the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team. Therefore, all events have been canceled for the remainder of 2024. Unfortunately, this includes the Military Chaplain Retreat scheduled Dec. 2–5, 2024.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We appreciate your prayers for these teams and our staff. Most importantly, please pray for the residents of Western North Carolina.
If you registered for this event, you will be contacted by The Cove’s Reservations department within the coming weeks regarding your deposit. We pray that the Lord will bless you and we look forward to serving you in the future.
Travel Assistance
Limitations: This retreat is for all active-duty military chaplains as well as National Guard and reservist chaplains.
Transportation costs will be reimbursed as follows: up to $300 per person for airfare (round-trip airfare for chaplain and spouse) or round-trip mileage up to $300 from your home to The Cove for one vehicle. With specific request, BGEA will assist with airport pickups at the Asheville airport but are not able to reimburse for rental cars.
For reimbursement of airfare, chaplains will need to email a copy–or copies, if traveling with a spouse–of the airfare receipt showing the name(s) on the receipt and indicating the airfare cost(s) to [email protected] by October 31, 2024. Reimbursement for up to $300 per person on airfare will be given. Please make sure you receive an email confirmation following submission of your receipts.
Travel reimbursement for chaplains driving will be at a rate of $.67 cents/mile, up to $300 per car. Round-trip mileage will be calculated on Google Maps from point of origin to The Cove in Asheville.
A W9 Form will be sent to each chaplain along with the reservation confirmation letter from The Cove. Please complete the form and return as soon as possible to:
